My name is Sam, and I’m the dinner winner, or at least I am most nights. I’m a passionate cook, husband, and father of three with a full time job as a professional musician. Most days, I rush home to grab the kids and get working on dinner, having spent my entire day thinking about what I want to eat in the evening. This blog will be full of recipes that I have made for my family and friends, and that you should make too.
You’ll also notice that there are no meat dishes on this blog. So, why not call it a vegetarian food blog? Well, for one, I’m not a vegetarian. But, my wife and three kids are. Over the last fifteen or so years of cooking and eating, as Michael Pollan says, “food, not too much, mostly plants,” I have found all sorts of ways to cook veggies that are satiating, and delicious. Also, eating less meat has been better for my health, and I’m told, much better for the planet. This blog puts deliciousness above all else, so if you’re looking for a vegan detox meal plan, this isn’t the place.
I usually cook in broad strokes, adding a bit more of this and a bit less of that as I go along, and I encourage you to do the same. Experimentation has taught me what I like most in different dishes, and has made me a better cook. It also lets you peer into the depths of the fridge at the end of the week, after you have not been grocery shopping for days, and find something inspiring and delicious to make for dinner.
